World Health Information (WHI) is an organization, which offers free health and medical information to consumers and professionals. WHI does so through its website www.worldhealthinformation.org. WHI provides you with the specialized directory search engine technology in the form of a 'metasite.'
The WHI website is powered, and made possible by WebScroll® from OmniScroll®. Using the latest search engine software solutions, the WHI website provides a platform to include an infinite number of URL's of all quality health websites from around the globe.
Our directory is arranged like an outline, hierarchically, with major topics divided into smaller related topics to whatever level of detail is deemed useful. The web site links are listed at appropriate points along the way. There are many advantages to using a directory type of organization, especially if the person searching for information is unfamiliar with the health topic. The outline gives you a kind of conceptual 'map' of the topics. You can easily and intuitively browse both back and forward amongst the interconnected topics and information.
Our website is known as a metasite. This means that we provide you with information exclusively from other websites. The health and medical information web pages WHI links to are provided by authoritative health and medical professionals, organizations, government agencies, and alike (.org, .gov, .com, .edu). The information is presented on their recognized, quality websites.
WHI is not affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, Switzerland.
WHI aims to provide anyone with free health and medical information in a quick and user-friendly format. WHI is the first organization to introduce the use of 'WebScroll®' to a medical directory search engine. WebScroll®, which represents a breakthrough in web information management, is designed to help you confidently find and view health and medical information from around the globe.
The WHI website contains a collection of health and medical information from third party sources only. The WHI website does not contain original content written by the WHI editorial website team. WHI will show you your selected link before you leave the WHI website.
WHI wishes to remind you that the information, provided via our website, is to support and not to replace the relationship between a patient and the medical or health professional.
The quality guidelines we use in evaluating links to Web pages are listed below. Our selection team, which is comprised of Medical Practitioners with recognition and qualifications from Europe, North America, and Australasia, endeavours to apply these guidelines during the selection of our health information.
WHI will preference links to web sites, which subscribe to the HONcode principles of the Health On the Net Foundation, or similarly recognized quality assessment tools and guidelines.
WHI makes daily modifications to the WHI link database. WHI endeavours to check its links regularly to ensure active links only.
No content of linked to websites is edited or managed by the WHI editorial website team.
WHI endeavours to exclude links to websites where claims are made relating to the benefit or performance of a specific health/medical treatment, commercial product, or service. Where claims are made relating to the benefit or performance of a specific treatment, commercial product or service, these claims need to be supported by clear reference(s) to scientific research results and/or published articles. Third party websites are governed by their own Terms of Use, which are required to be displayed and available on the respective web sites
Advertising revenue is used to support, maintain and expand the World Health Information web site. At this time WHI receives no third party funding. Possible third party funding has no influence on the content of this website
World Health Information provides the information using WebScroll®. The technology behind this innovation was specifically designed to increase accessibility and usability. WHI confirms one limitation in that the Worldhealthinformation.org web site, at this time, does not work with non-Javascript enabled web browsers.
